Visiting Walt Disney World

On the Road with Grammy K

Join us as we spend a few days at Fort Wilderness and the Walt Disney World Resort with Grammy K. Plus we visit Disney's Vero Beach Resort to check out the views.

YES! Grammy K is back! You may remember Stacie's Mom who joined us for a few months of our travels in 2019. She's with us for several weeks again this year. Most of the places we'll be visiting with her are places she has never been before. But first up on our adventures with Grammy: her happy place... Walt Disney World in Florida.

Tips for Visiting Walt Disney World

This place is HUGE! Be sure to bring comfortable and well broken in walking shoes.

Don't try to see it all in one day. Even trying to experience everything one park has to offer in one day is incredibly challenging. And there are 4 parks here! Plan to spend at least a week enjoying the experience.

There's a lot of fun to be found outside of the parks as well. Don't overlook the activities at Fort Wilderness or the other resorts. Walt Disney World also features a shopping/dining area called Disney Springs, mini golf courses, golf courses and waterparks.

Take advantage of Disney transportation. Our truck never moves while we are at Disney. We rely on Disney buses, boats, monorails and the skyway to get around everywhere. There is no charge for this convenience.

For us, Disney is an experience. It's as much about the architecture, horticulture and entertainment as anything else. The rides are fun, but we recommend taking the time to sit and take it all in, stroll around and notice all of the little details.

Eating and drinking in the parks can get pricey. (After all, these are theme parks.) To help reel in some of the costs, consider taking in some snacks or a bag lunch. Lockers are available for rent at the entrance to each park. Restaurants (both sit down and counter service) also offer free cups of water with your meal. All you have to do is ask.
