Heading to Nashville, Tennessee? You might be planning a visit to the Grand Ole Opry, the historic Ryman Auditorium, the Tennessee State Capitol Building, or the "Honky Tonk Highway" otherwise known as Broadway. But while you are researching fun and interesting things to do in Nashville, be sure to consider a visit to the Madame Tussaud Wax Museum. This is a must visit attraction for all music lovers!
We were amazed by the immersive, interactive feel of this museum and how incredibly realistic some of the wax figures appear. (Check out some of our pictures below.)
The Nashville location of this famous chain of wax museums focuses on music icons from a variety of genres and decades. As you wander through the exhibits, take the time to walk all around the statues. You might notice actual hair on their arms or veins on the backs of their hands. Some of the art was so realistic looking, we half expected a real person to surprise us by "coming to life" as we walked through the museum.
The museum's website recommends putting aside 60-90 minutes for your visit. Our visit lasted closer to 2 full hours.
These are NOT museum exhibits behind glass or a velvet rope. Throughout the rooms, you'll find props like pianos, guitars, a motorcycle, microphones, and audio mixers... all encouraging you to pose for pictures with the stars. Pictures are very encouraged here. In fact, this museum wants you to take lots of photos and encourages you to share your experience on social media. The ability to get up close to the wax figures makes this a truly unique experience.
We never would have expected to find a world-renowned wax attraction inside a shopping mall, but this one is! You can get an upclose look at your favorite celebrities (or at least the wax versions of your favorite music stars) inside the Opry Mills Mall across from the Grand Ole Opry.
Free parking is available in the mall parking lot near the entrance to the wax museum.
Though this museum is located in the city that is famous for its deep roots in country music and just a few miles away from the Country Music Hall of Fame, this location of Madame Tussauds celebrates the musical landscape of America. Here country music stars share the spotlight with rock n roll, R&B, pop and jazz. Legendary music icons ranging from Hank Williams to Taylor Swift are represented here.
A visit to the Nashville Madame Tussauds is a multi-sensory experience celebrating musical history. Be sure to set aside several hours to explore everything this museum has to offer.
Each room of the museum offers a different immersive experience celebrating musical icons from different genres. Each wax form has a nearby sign featuring interesting stories from his or her life and musical journey.
Don't be shy during your visit! The folks who designed this museum worked hard to create multiple interactive environments. Sing with Patsy Cline in a recording studio. Take center stage with Reba McEntire. Play the standup bass with Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday. Participate in a dance party with Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, Beyonce and Katy Perry. A visit to Nashville's Madame Tussauds Wax Museum is a unique opportunity for any music lover to be the star of the show.
Just a few of our other favorite musicians that are featured throughout this Music City attraction: Whitney Houston, George Strait, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Michael Jackson, Janis Joplin, Elton John and Loretta Lynn. And that's not nearly all of the music legends that you'll find in the Nashville location for what is very likely the world's greatest wax museum.
Because we enjoyed this Nashville museum so much, we will definitely seek out other Madame Tussauds Wax Museums on our travels.
