This week, we take you along to a rally that a lot of folks have raved about... the Cajun RV Rally! This RV rally is held every year in New Iberia, Louisiana just south of Lafayette.
Growing up in Texas, we've taken many trips to Louisiana over the years, but this was our first 2-week stay in South Louisiana or Acadiana as its known. (aka Cajun country!) What we found here is a region immersed in culture, food, history, and a zest for life.
In this video, we share some highlights of the Cajun RV Rally as well as attractions that we enjoyed around New Iberia LA. We had a fantastic time touring Martin Accordians (a family business that makes custom Cajun accordians by hand), beautiful Jefferson Island (home of the Rip Van Winkle Gardens and some very unusual history), the Conrad Rice Mill (billed as the oldest rice mill in the USA), and the Bayou Teche Museum in New Iberia LA (a community museum in an 1880s building).
And when your are just a few miles from the Boudin Capital of the World and they happen to be hosting the annual Boudin Festival during your stay... of course you go!
To hear more about our experience at the rally, listen to Episode 26 of Our Podcast featuring Don and Sandie Grutzmacher, the organizers of the Cajun RV Rally.
We also toured the famous Tabasco Pepper Sauce Factory on Avery Island during our time in New Iberia, Louisiana.
Be sure to join us again next week as we take you along on a tour of an active, working crawfish farm and sorting facility! Talk about a truly unique experience... we even got to go out on the boat with the crawfish fisherman!
