Our campsite during our stay was site number 34. It is a back-in site with 50amp electric and water connections. As we showed in the video, our site had a large shade structure over the picnic table, a firepit, lantern hook and grill. The picnic table is on concrete, the parking pad is paved, and the utilities and sitting area for the campsite are crushed gravel. The grassy area surrounding us was nicely maintained.

Other than the tight entry gate, this park is suitable for any size RV. Many of the 46 RV campsites are big rig friendly. All offer 50 amp electrical service. 22 of the campsites feature full hook-ups.

This video is a different style from our normal park videos. There were A LOT of folks visiting the park while we were there and we didn't want to distract from anyone's enjoyment of the park as we were filming so we tried to be very discreet with the camera.

Where is Airport Park?

πŸ“ Airport Park is one of several COE Parks along the shores of Waco Lake (or Lake Waco, depending on who you visit with). You'll find it just Northwest of downtown Waco, Texas.

Tips for Visiting Airport Park

US citizens and permanent residents age 62 and older are eligible to purchase a Senior Pass for our National Parks and other federal agency parks including COE parks. With this Senior Pass you'll pay 1/2 price on camping fees at Airport Park!

Take your time as you enter the park. As we mentioned in the video, the entry and exit gates are narrow. If you take your time and carefully pull through the gate, you'll be fine, just don't be in a hurry. And if you're questioned, have your copilot get out before you get to the gate, walk ahead and help guide you through by watching the sides.

We recommend that motorhome owners use the dump station to disconnect your tow vehicle just after entering the park. This is the most level and least in-the-way area that we found.

Don't panic if you hear a loud boom during your visit, the rocket engine tests can be pretty loud but they only last a few seconds. And remember, you're also camping next to an airport so enjoy watching the planes and don't stress about the occasional noise.

If you'd like a quieter experience, consider staying at one of the other COE parks on Waco Lake.

If full hookups are important to you, be sure to book as far in advance as you can. Although, the dump station in this park is easy to access and use for any size rig.

Reservations for Airport Park open 6 months to the day before your arrival date. There is a 14-day maximum stay within 30 days. Reservations must be made and paid for online. The park does not accept cash.

This is a great location to serve as a basecamp for exploring all of the fun and interesting things to do in Waco. Plan to spend several days. Even staying an entire week, we didn't have time to do everything that we wanted to do.

Remember, as with many COE parks, the gates to Airport Park lock at 10pm each night. Vehicle access into the park is not available between 10pm and 6am. Be sure to get back from your day's adventures well before closing time to avoid getting locked out.

During our visit, the roads leading to the park were in great shape.
